GOLS Certified Organic Dunlop Latex
Ivy Organics mattresses utilize 100% organic Dunlop latex harvested directly from Hevea Brasitiensis trees found in South East Asia. By exclusively utilizing certified organic Dunlop latex we are able to ensure that it is responsibly sourced from sustainable forests while also providing full transparency and traceability. Additionally, organic Dunlop latex possesses unique properties that make it naturally antimicrobial and dust mite resistant.
Ecologically Friendly
One of the greatest benefits of organic latex rubber is how it is grown in an ecological friendly way, using natural methods. The rubber tree is best known for its incredible ability to filter carbon out of the air. Over the course of 25 years, for every two rubber trees planted, one metric ton of carbon will be filtered from the air.
Ethically Sourced GOTS Certified Organic & Cruelty-Free Wool
While the vast majority of the mattress industry uses Merino wool from either Australia or New Zealand, Ivy Organics uses 100% Organic Cruelty Free Wool™ sourced directly from the Oregon coast. This is done in order to ensure that our wool is being harvested responsibly and ethically, which is not always the case with Merino Wool. Merino sheep are specifically bred to have wrinkly skin which therefore produces more wool per animal. An unfortunate downside to this bred trait is that the wrinkles collect moisture that attract parasites. Skin compromised with parasites is removed, before the sheep becomes infected, through a procedure called mulesing. Mulesing is a barbaric practice where the rancher literally removes the folds in the skin of the sheep without the use of any anesthetics leaving open wounds on the animal
A Better Night’s Sleep
Thanks to the curly shape of the individual wool fibers, air is allowed to circulate through the fibers, wicking away moisture allowing you to sleep undisturbed. One hundred percent (100%) wool that hasn’t been processed or blended is remarkably healthy. And finally, it supports small farmers and ranchers along with being a renewable resource.
GOTS Certified Organic Cotton
The cotton used in our mattresses is always 100% Organic Cotton certified by Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS). Our cotton is sourced from within the United States from California and Texas in order to support local growers and small processing plants where the cotton is ginned. By supporting local growers we help to support small businesses here in the United States.
100% Recycled Steel Nested Coils
We sought out the help of a company that pioneered sleep technology when it introduced bedsprings 135 years ago. Today, the coils we use are made of recycled steel and strategically placed to create a nested, individually pocketed, coil unit that provides durable long-lasting support. By using a nested coil unit our mattresses reduce motion transfer while providing individual alignment
Each individual coil is wrapped in a biodegradable non-off gassing woven fabric derived from sugar cane. Then the entire unit is wrapped and sealed in organic felted wool and wool batting to ensure stability and longevity.
